Trinity
County
Trinity County is rugged, mountainous, heavily forested, and lies along the Trinity River. Weaverville, the Trinity County seat, is the jumping–off point to the Trinity Alps. The “Alps” abound with magnificent high mountain lakes scattered among the granite crags.
Awesome trout fishing and hiking trails are the two most popular activities. Trinity Lake is a fishing and house boating dream in the summer and fall. There is an enormous variety of hiking trails to suit every level. Weaverville has the distinction of housing some of California’s oldest buildings. The courthouse, built in 1856, is the second oldest in the state, and the Weaverville Drug Store has been filling prescriptions since 1852. The Joss House is a historic Taoist temple built in 1873.
To the west is Humboldt County’s seat of Eureka and Humboldt State University’s Arcata. To the north is Orick and Crescent City. To the south is Ruth Lake, where summer recreation includes boating, fishing, camping, and plenty of multi-level trail hiking. Travel east, along Hwy 299 to Redding, with a population of approximately 80,000 people. Trinity County is well worth a few days of exploration, and you may find the perfect piece of real estate you’ve been dreaming of.
